I searched for her for over 25 years and was recently reunited with 4 1/2 siblings via a DNA search. That reunion has been an amazing journey and am grateful we found each other. Sadly my birth mother had passed away in 1991 leaving me with many questions. I am trying to find out what maternity home or home for unwed mothers that she was sent to.

Amos has a database of about 750 people searching for family that gave birth or were born at Veil hospitals. She also administers Facebook groups for Veil adoptees and is working with Susie Armstrong and Armstrong’s sister, Shirley Clark, 88, as they search for their brother, so far without result. Armstrong’s daughter, Terry Armstrong, also has been searching for leads from her Mesa, Arizona, home. Barrett opened the first rescue home in Atlanta where she joined forces with Charles Nelson Crittenton, a wealthy New Yorker who joined her in the creation of safe havens for fallen women. The idea was to give women an alternative to prostitution.
